What else to do on a "Tropical Storm Sunday" except paint in my journal?
Well, I didn't JUST paint...
I spent the entire day on the sofa, EATING, watching the rain, watching the movie "Stigmata",
pinning on Pinterest,  and painting in my journal.
My backside actually aches tonight from never moving from one spot.
I love days like this.

Tropical storm Issac

Not a lot of getting ready for this storm. We didn't put up ply wood,
nor did we stock up on canned foods,
we didn't even get extra water.
The only thing we did was move the outside stuff, into the house.

The majority of the day looked like this.
It mostly rained on and off and the wind gusted.
Overall, we were very lucky that this one passed around us.
Prayers for those still in the path of this hurricane.

Art class / angels

Another successful art class on Saturday. I just love these girls. As one of them said later in the day, "This group has a really good energy." I love that! And it's so true!

The project for the day were angels made from really old antique book pages. They
first worked on the backgrounds with multiple colors in acrylic paint, then textured, stamped and
stenciled them for the angels to rest on.

I (spray adhesive)  glued the very fragile paper to card stock so they wouldn't break apart
when the girls painted, cut and glued them down.

Wow. Such BEAUTIFUL work! The layers of colors and textures worked beautifully.

Thank you to all the girls who came. Remember not to sneak out again before
I get a chance to take a picture to put in the blog!
And as always, thank you to and the girls
there for all their help.

One more from over this past weekend. And, more cool stencils from Paperniche. This is all part of the painting faces class. It's fun and easy! Next class, last Saturday of the month of August.
See ya!

Playing around

I spent the weekend working on some journal pages again.
Art continues to be my therapy.  I can always lose myself in a project.
Believe me, this weekend I was lost a lot.

This is a new set of angel wing stamps I found at Paper Niche.
They are some of the nicest ones I've found.
The below templates (stencils) are also from Paperniche. They're are wonderful for layering paint, ink, chauks (whatever your using). It  gives the pages a little depth.
Hey, I'm the first one to tell you how I "cheat" on some of my techniques, yes?

Her nose shrunk.
What happened here? Ha!
Well, she was fun and the project kept my brain busy for a few hours. I really need
to look at a picture of a face before I draw one. That way it's (a little) more correct!

No good scary movies on this weekend. I watched "It's Complicated" again.
Probably better for inside my head anyway. I still can't stop laughing over
that scene where Meryl Streep is in the bushes with Steve Martin getting high.
It cracks me up every time.
I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Son of a GUN!!! I can't post any pictures because my "Iphoto" won't let me! Hopefully I will get it fixed tomorrow.
