My favorite tree

Playing with my camera with my favorite tree.
Taken around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Taken after the party, using a flash.

 Taken at night, no flash.

Playing around with the light meter. Cool effects.
I love Christmas time.

Repurposed!

I was in need of a wreath for my front door. I found this in my collection from flea markets of "junk that I hope to someday find a purpose for".  This was an old mirror frame. I wired the Christmas tree branches onto the frame, wired on the bird nest and stuck in a couple of red berry sprigs. Kinda cute!! And best of all, I got to use some of my junk!

Glitter crazy!

I never liked glitter much, until this year. Now, I love glitter! This year I glittered everything. The above photo shows what I did to the close out "Michael's" little birds. I got them for .99 cents. I painted it with Elmer's glue, held the little bird over a bowl and spooned the glitter over it until it was completely covered.

I painted the tiny eggs with glue and spooned the glitter over them.

Hee hee, next a church that was an old "county looking' ornament. It was wooden and painted mustard yellow and green.  Now it's all sparkly silver!

This is one of the little birds actually on the tiny tree.

I even bought a paper punch (40% off!) that was a large snowflake. I punched out a dozen or so, painted them with Elemer's and glittered the heck out them also! I love this little tree!
I've become a "glitter monster"! This coming year is looking very shiny and bright!

The angel tree.

My favorite tree is our angel tree.
This angel is the tree topper. Her wings are made of Laurel leaves. They are dark green and
look almost black. Which in itself is kinda cool.

Alex made the above angel when he was 7 years old.
It's my favorite!
This angel is made with handmade paper by my friend Bridgette. It's a
card tag. One of my favorites too!
It's time for another "Angel" tree. This one is getting too full!

More of the angel tree.

Some more angels on the angel tree.

It's tall and skinny, around 6 feet tall and is covered with white lights.

It also has wings, feathers, angels, and lots of crystals.

This is one of the feathers and the picture below is one of the crystals.

I want to leave it year round!

I LOVE the holidays!

The house is decorated, the parties are over.
Now it's just the count down to Christmas.

I love the holidays but they are exhausting!

Now it's time to start the Christmas shopping, mainly for our 26 year old son.
He's tough to buy for! Thank goodness for the gift cards.

These cool lanterns under my stairway, are on 'loan' from my friend Donna.
Now I'm going to have to go shopping and find three, to replace these after I
give them back. She DOES want them back. Maybe she will forget about them...

These are a few of my husband's bird houses. I love them and they look like a fairy village!
Maybe I'll just leave up the those tiny white lights. They add to the fantasy. :)

getting ready for Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching!
I can't tell you how happy I am that we are
no longer in retail. For so many years we spent the entire
holiday season working the long hours, 7 days a week.  Now I have
time for decorating!
:)

So, for the past week and half, I've been getting out the bulbs, ribbons &
shinys. The tree is up ( leaning a bit too far forward...) and little touches
are filling up every corner of the house. It is a lot of work for just
few weeks, but I think it certainly is worth it.

mortar art

I love concrete. Mostly cemetery angels, but they are hard to locate.
Some day I will go on a field trip, to Europe (because that is where
the best concrete angels are) and take photographs.
In the mean time, I'm taking pictures in my mom's yard, my yard,
and my living room.
Why does this sound so depressing, or is it just me?
xo!
